For those who are not familiar with Cisco UCS Manager, note that in order to launch the manager, you need to have Java installed on the workstation, laptop or server you’re trying to access it from. This means that if you try to access the UCS Manager and get the following prompt:
Do you want to save this file, or find a program online to open it?
Name: ucsm.jnlp
Type: Unknown File Type, 3.38KB
From:
Find Save Cancel
… this means that your workstation most likely doesn’t have Java installed. Take a look at your Programs and Features to check if Java’s installed or not:
If you don’t see Java in there, open a browser to the Java site to install it:
Once you get Java installed, you should then be able to launch UCSM:
Simple enough but I’ve gotten a lot of calls because of this.
